Xbook No. 36

Regular price $45.00 USD

A 4.25×6.25" 120-page journal with mottled brown handmade Cave Paper covers, with a six-needle coptic binding using brown, gold, and rust waxed linen thread from France. Six signatures of white 80# drawing paper printed in-house with a light brown ¼" dot pattern — with hand-torn deckled fore-edges that lie completely flat when opened. Inside covers are upcycled from a striped British bag.

Six-needle coptic binding uses one length of thread and two needles for every two holes, with three threads and six needles used simultaneously. The thread sewn through the covers is usually horizontal, but I thought XXX would be fun — hence the name for the series.

I made a whole series of these a few years ago and only a few remain. Although I'll use this structure again, there won't be any more X-books — it was my first foray into six-needle binding, and a bit of a head-scratcher until I got the hang of it.

Note: the inside back cover pastedown has a few small air bubbles.
