OLD COCA-COLA PLANT NO. __ is a color photograph of an exterior building facade, shot flat and straight-on so that the architectural surface fills the frame entirely. Vertical panels of pale grey glazed terracotta alternate with narrow pilasters studded with evenly spaced raised bosses, the whole surface repeating in a rhythm that is both industrial and quietly ornamental. The panels are slightly convex, catching light differently across their width, so that what appears at first to be a flat grey wall reveals itself as a composition of subtle curves and shadow. Horizontal mortar lines divide the panels into registers, but the vertical rhythm dominates. It is a photograph of a building that was built to be looked at, and still is.
The image is an original fine art photograph by Rick Graves, printed on exhibition-quality paper with Epson SureColor pigment inks. Hand-packed and shipped from our local post office in Spring Green, WI.
