THEATRE LIGHTS is a black-and-white photograph of the underside of a theatre marquee, shot flat and straight-on so that the ceiling fills the frame entirely. Two horizontal rows of light bulb sockets run across the surface — some empty and eleven with bulbs. Between the rows, a horizontal conduit runs the width of the frame and, at center, three neon tubes curl in loose S-shapes where they connect to the supply lines — and the fourth is gone. The surface is painted white, weathered and slightly grimy, and the whole assembly has the look of something that was once brilliant and now is dark. The venue hangs on.
It is an original fine art photograph by Rick Graves, printed on exhibition-quality paper with Epson SureColor pigment inks. Hand-packed and shipped from our local post office in Spring Green, WI.
