Straitlaced

STRAITLACED is a black-and-white photograph of two horizontal rods running across a wall of cast concrete staves, each anchored to the wall by a heavy threaded bolt and nut assembly — the kind used to tie structural elements together or tension a facade. The rods run parallel, offset diagonally across the frame, and the hardware at each anchor point is substantial and purposeful: hex nuts, washers, threaded rod ends, the whole assembly slightly weathered and dark against the pale, textured staves behind it. The composition is spare and symmetrical, the staves' vertical joints providing a quiet geometry behind the more insistent horizontal lines of the rods. It is a photograph about tension — literal and otherwise.

The image is an original fine art photograph by Rick Graves, printed on exhibition-quality paper with Epson SureColor pigment inks. Hand-packed and shipped from our local post office in Spring Green, WI.
