• Closeup of a vintage steam locomotive's wheelset, axle, and coupling rod stamped with the letters RB; photographer Rick Graves.

RB

Regular price $25.00 USD

RB is a color close-up photograph of a steam locomotive's drive wheel, shot tight against the massive black iron casting so that the wheel's curve fills the upper frame. A white-painted coupling rod runs horizontally across the center, its crank pin and oiler fitting rising from the hub in precise mechanical detail. Stamped into the rod in small, plain letters: RB. What it stands for — a railroad designation, a builder's mark, an inspector's initials — is unknown, and the photograph doesn't explain it. It simply records that someone put those letters there, on this machine, for a reason that has since been forgotten.

The image is an original fine art photograph by Rick Graves, printed on exhibition-quality paper with Epson SureColor pigment inks. Hand-packed and shipped from our local post office in Spring Green, WI.
