Orange
ORANGE is a color close-up photograph of interlocking industrial gears, shot tight enough that the machinery fills the frame edge to edge. The dominant note is rust — a deep, saturated orange-yellow that coats the cast metal surfaces in layers of oxidized paint and grime, interrupted by the cooler grey of bare steel teeth where the gears mesh. A bevel gear dominates the upper portion of the frame, its angled teeth precise against the encrusted body below; a socket wrench head sits in the lower right corner, almost incidental, a reminder that someone still works on this machine. The image is warm, dense, and unexpectedly beautiful.
The image is an original fine art photograph by Rick Graves, printed on exhibition-quality paper with Epson SureColor pigment inks. Hand-packed and shipped from our local post office in Spring Green, WI.
